Dani Alves set for Juventus medical ahead of move from Barcelona

Brazil international Dani Alves has arrived in Turin ahead of a medical with Juventus on Monday, the Serie A champions announced on Twitter.

The 33-year-old defender, who won 23 trophies over eight seasons with Barcelona, had one year left on his contract but the La Liga club have allowed him to leave on a free transfer.

However, Alves had a break clause inserted into his contract, which is due to expire at the end of next season, enabling him to move to Serie A champions Juve on a free transfer.

Juve posted on their Twitter account on Sunday: “Look who’s just landed in Turin! Welcome, @DaniAlvesD2!”

They later confirmed on their website that the full-back’s medical is now the only barrier to his signature.

Alves made 391 appearances for Barca, scoring 21 goals.

After leaving Sevilla for the Nou Camp in 2008, the Brazilian claimed six La Liga titles and three Champions League winners’ medals.

Alves was part of the Brazil squad that was knocked out of the Copa America Centenario edition in the United States in the group stages earlier this month.
