Artur Boruc signs new Bournemouth deal
AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc has signed a new contract with the club to extend his stay at Vitality Stadium to June 2017.
Boruc, 36, is currently on international duty with Poland after being included in their 23-man squad for Euro 2016, had activated a clause in his previous contract entitling him to a further year at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth have now agreed fresh terms with the 36-year-old, who made 32 Premier League appearances for the Cherries last season.
The 36-year-old stopper made a number of excellent saves to help the Cherries to Premier League safety at the first time of asking and is currently away with Poland at Euro 2016.
Boruc activated a clause in his contract entitling him to an extra year, but the club agreed a fresh contract with the former Fiorentina keeper after his impressive performances last term.
“Artur was excellent for us during last season and we’re pleased to keep him on board for the coming Premier League campaign,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s official website.
“A clause in Artur’s contract meant he would be staying for another year but we offered him a new contract after his performances last term. We wish Artur all the best during his time with Poland at the European championships and hope he comes back with a successful tournament under his belt.”
Boruc becomes the latest Bournemouth player to commit his future to the club, with fellow goalkeeper Adam Federici and midfielder Harry Arter also signing new deals.
