Three Star demands Rs 60m compensation from ANFA
Nepal’s league champions Three Star has demanded Rs 60 million compensation from All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) after they were barred from playing in the AFC Cup playoff, due to ‘irresponsibility’ on the part of officials concerned.
Three Star has threatened to withdraw from all football-related activities if its demand is not met.
The club has also said it will not participate in any football-related activity until ANFA pays the compensation amount, and accepts its mistake.
Three Star had qualified for the second round of the tournament following their win in Mongolia in August. But the AFC called Mongolian Erchim FC, runners-up to Three Star in the qualifiers, for the draw after ANFA did not respond to requests to confirm Three Star’s participation.
The club organised a press briefing in Kathmandu, and said it will not forgive ANFA for the mistake. It has said it will not accept any investigation into the case unless Olympic Committee or the sports ministry officials are involved in it.
