Nepal XI beats Dhangadi XI by 31 runs

In the charity match of Dhangadhi Premier League, Nepal XI defeated Dhangadi XI by 31 runs in the first game of Dhangadi Premier League at SSP Cricket Ground, Dhangadi on Sunday.

Nepal XI won the toss and elected to bat. With the loss of eight wickets, Nepal XI scored 161 runs.

Captain Paras Khadka made the highest 68 runs (not out) with seven fours and four sixes off 44 balls.while Basanta Regmi made 43 runs off 38 balls with four fours and three sixes.

For Dhangadi XI, Bikram Thagunna took four wickets giving 21 runs. Likewise, Sagar Bhandari and KC Padam took single wicket each.

With the target of 162 runs, Dhangadi XI team was invited to the crease in the second innings. However, the team could not meet the target and made 130 runs in 20 overs.

For Dhangadi XI, Sunil Dhamala scored the highest 34 runs off 30 balls with four fours and one six. Dipendra Singh Airee scored 26 runs off 18 balls with two fours and two sixes.

Shakti Gauchan took three wickets giving 24 runs whereas Sompal Kami took two wickets for the Nepal XI team.

The charity match was played to contribute in the construction of Fapla International Cricket Ground.

The 2017 Dhangadhi Premier League is first edition of the Dhangadhi Premier League. It is going to held from 9 to 22 April 2017.

The city-based cricket tournament being jointly organized by Dhangadhi Cricket Academy (DCA) and Sudur Paschimanchal Academy (SPA) will kick off on Monday.

The first match will see the battle between national team vice-captain Gyanendra Malla-led CYC Attariya and Kathmandu Goldens captained by Basanta Regmi at SSP Cricket Ground, Dhangadhi.

In the second match of the day, Shakti Gauchan-led Rupandehi Challengers will take on Binod Bhandari’s Kanchanpur Iconic.

The winner of the tournament which features six teams including two from Kailali and one each from Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Rupandehai and Kanchanpur will win Rs 1.5 million.

The runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 700,000.
