Mark Clattenburg gets Euro 2016 and Champions League inked on his arm

Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has commemorated a remarkable year by having a pair of tattoos inked on his body at a parlour in Spain.

Earlier this summer, Clattenburg became the first Englishman to officiate both the European Championship final and Champions League final.

And now the 41-year-old has had the logos of both competitions permanently inked on his arms to commemorate his achievements as an official.

Pictures emerged online on Wednesday appearing to show Clattenburg sporting two new tattoos – complete with copyright symbols – outside a tattoo parlour in Spain.

The referee, who only turned professional in 2004, achieved the highlight of his career so far when he took charge of Portugal’s 1-0 victory of France in the final of Euro 2016.

The showpiece event capped a remarkable year for Clattenburg, who also officiated the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester United in addition to the all-Madrid Champions League final.

Footballer players regularly have tattoos inked to mark their achievements in the sport, although Clattenburg could be the first high-profile English official to follow suit.
