Speaking about his decision, Sigurdsson said: “Delighted to have signed a new four-year deal with Swansea. Looking forward to the new season!”
Sigurdsson joined Swansea for a second time – following an initial loan spell from Hoffenheim in 2012 – for an undisclosed fee from Tottenham in July 2014.
He has since scored 20 goals in 72 appearances for the club, with 11 of those strikes coming in 36 appearances last season as Francesco Guidolin’s side finished an indifferent campaign 12th in the Premier League.
Sigurdsson, who started his career with Reading, also impressed this summer as he helped Iceland reach the quarter-finals at Euro 2016 and had attracted interest from a number of clubs, according to Swansea’s official website.
