Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson signs new four-year contract

Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson has signed a new four-year contract.

The 24-year-old missed more than six months of the Cherries’ first Premier League campaign because of a serious knee injury.

In May, Bournemouth rejected West Ham’s combined bid of £20m for Wilson and midfielder Matt Ritchie.

Wilson, 24, helped fire the Cherries to the Premier League after scoring 20 league goals for the club in their Championship-winning 2014-15 season.

The striker made a positive impact last season in the Premier League as well, scoring five goals in six starts, before suffering a long-term injury which kept him out for majority of the season.

Wilson is now tied to the club until June 2020.

Wilson featured in the Cherries’ last six matches of the campaign and he is a big part of boss Eddie Howe’s plans going into next season.

Chief executive Neill Blake said, “We’re absolutely delighted that Callum has signed a new four-year deal.

“Callum has constantly improved during his time here and only his injury stopped him from having a big impact in the Premier League last year.

“Now back to full fitness, we’re excited to see Callum continue to improve over the next four years.”
