Hom Lal Shrestha won Lumbini Peace Marathon
Hom Lal Shrestha of Tribhuvan Army Club won the Lumbini Peace Marathon held in Gautam Buddha’s birth-place Lumbini on Sunday.
Shrestha completed the marathon in 2 hours 22 minutes and 36 seconds and the winner received Rs 100,000.
The race that started from Kudan, ended at Mayadevi garden via Tilaurakot and Dohani. The marathon jointly organized by buddhistcircuits.com and Adventure Sports Tourism Society to mark the Buddha’s return to Kapilvastu after attaining enlightenment, has seen the participation of 55 players including seven foreign athletes.
Similarly, Gopi Chandra Parki of the Armed Police Force (APF) secured the second position clocking the race in 2 hours 24 minutes 24 seconds while Khagendra Bhatt of Nepal Army finished in third position clocking 2 hours 24 minutes 41 seconds.
Gopi and Khagendra were received with Rs 75,000 and 50,000 respectively.
Likewise, Tirtha Pun won the 21km race under the Lumbini Peace Marathon while Ramji Basnet and Tirtharaj Katuwal secured the second and third place respectively.
In 5km race, sunil Kurmi, Tej Bahadur Chaudhari and Rakesh Lodh secured the top three positions respectively.
