Jagjeet Shrestha has been signed by Australian club Hume United FC

Nepali national team midfielder Jagjeet Shrestha has been signed by Australian club Hume United FC a 2nd division team in Victoria state.

Hume United plays in the National Premier Leagues which acts as the second tier of the sport in the country below the A-League.

Shrestha has signed 18 months contract with the club. Yeti Football Club, a club formed by Nepalese in Melbourne, had aided Shrestha for the signing.

Shrestha will receive a monthly salary of $1,500 from the club.

Shrestha scored his debut goal, scoring a brace including the winning goal to lead the team to a 3-2 result over Sporting Whittlesea FC on Saturday.

Shrestha said “I am delighted with the opportunity to play in the Australian second division”.

“It has already been more than six weeks since I left Nepal for Australia. Finding a club here is obviously not an easy task, especially when the football season was almost to an end. I am thankful for the Yeti FC and their manager for helping me get through this.” Shrestha added.

Shrestha has won 33 caps for Nepal.

He was playing for Lalitpur-based Three Star Club before signing for Hume United.

Shrestha who was playing for Lalitpur-based Three Star Club before signing for Hume United and said he would be back for the National League after playing in Australia.
