World Cup Qualifiers dream still alive, say Nepal cricket team

The National Cricket Team returned home on Friday morning after playing two matches in the Netherlands against the hosts under the ICC World Cricket League.

Nepal had played two matches with Netherlands .Nepal won the second match against the hosts by 19 runs, on August 15. They had lost the first match by seven wickets, on August 13.

Speaking with the medias at the Tribhuvan International Airport Upon their return today, the team members said they were hopeful of being selected for the 2019 ICC World Cup Qualifiers and their journey into the ICC World Cricket League was not over yet.

Sharad Vesawkar said, “We will perform better in upcoming matches and make Nepal selected for the Qualifies.”

Nepal will play against Hong Kong, Kenya and UAE in another leg of same match that will be played after six months.

There are eight teams in the League including Scotland, Namibia and Papua New Guinea. The top four countries will get to play in the ICC World Cup Selection match to be held in Bangladesh in 2018.

Nepal have only won three matches – two against Namibia played in Kathmandu and the recent one against the Netherlands – among the six played.
