Army beat MMC to lift Hetauda Gold Cup
Tribhuvan Army Club defeated 10-man Manang Marsyangdi Club 2-0 to lift the title of second Hetauda Goldcup Football tournament at Forestry University grounds on Saturday.
Bharat Khawas scored the opening goal in the 18th minute utilizing cross from Dipak Gurung.
Santosh Tamang doubled the lead in a free kick in the 84th minute.
Nepal Army squandered a lovely chance to take lead as Bharat Khawas missed a sitter in the 11th minute. Army missed another chance to double the lead in the 45+1 minute as Nawayug Shrestha’s shot went wide. After a minute, Bibek Basnet’s shot was well saved by MMC goalie Dinesh Thapa Magar.
MMC were reduced to 10-man as Olawale got marching orders in the 19th minute for using foul words to match referee Sudish Pandey after the referees flashed out yellow card to him.
The champions received Rs 500000 while runners up team got Rs 300000.
