5th South Asian Basketball Association : India beat Nepal 81-53

India beat Nepal 81-53 in the opening match of the 5th South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) qualifiers for FIBA Asia Challenge 2016.

India beat Nepal in round-robin league. The four nation tournament that include Nepal, India Bangladesh and Maldives will provide the winner a ticket to play in the FIBA Asia Cup next year.

India lead the first quarter 23-4.In second quarter Nepal came back scoring 21 points against India 17 points. In third quarter Nepal scored 8 points against India 21 points.In final quarter Nepal scored 20 points against India 20 points.

Vishesh Bhriguvanshi scored with 11 points, with Amrit pal and debutant Arshdeep Bhullar bagging 10 points each for India.

Sadish Pradhan scored 13, with Sonam Lama and Ashim Shrestha netted 12 points each for Nepal.

In the first match of the league Maldives overcame a fighting Bangladesh 68-50 after trailing in the second and third quarters. Ismail Wildan who scored 13 points was the star of the match and Ibrahim Anfal Shareef also played well. For Bangladesh, a fighting contribution by Mithun Kumar Biswas (11 points) went in vein.
